Using Photoshop for image processing is an excellent idea. Its quite easy to use it's inbuilt blur too to create exciting blur effects and to bring the subject in focus. Another exciting tool is color replacement tool.

Below is a image showing use pf color replacement and blur tool. You can get blur tool under filter menu and color replacement tool under edit menu option in adjustment.
